Sadhana Camp at Sidhabari (Himalayas)






Chinmaya Mission Madurai has organized a Spiritual Sadhana Camp from April 26 to April 30, for 5 days at Sidhabari (Himalayas). Br. Srinivas Chaithanya and Br. Vinayak Chaithanya were the Camp Acharyas. The Texts taken were Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (Maitreyi- Brahmana); Thulasi Ramayan (selected Portions) and also selected verses from Thirumandhiram ( by Tamil Saint Thirumoolar). A camp kit which includes a notepad, pen and camp text materials were also given to the delegates.

After the Camp a Spiritual Yatra was also organised from May 1, to Vaishnavadevi Temple, Amritsar, Wagah Border, and Kurukshetra..

Nearly 70 Delegates from Madurai, Pondicherry, Chennai, Ooty and also from other places were joined this Camp and reached Madurai safely on 7th May. The participants were more disciplined and enjoyed the Camp and the Yatra. Further, they all requested the Acharyas to organise such Camps regularly..

Alagar Festival at Madurai











On May 8, on the eve of Lord Alagar Edhir Sevai (reception to Lord Alagar to Madurai),Chinmaya Mission, Madurai, has organised a Thanner Pandal at Goripalayam Area to supply Panagam and Neer More (butter milk), to the devotees.

Large people visited the Thanner Pandal and quenched their thirst by drinking Panagam and Buttermilk.. The distribution started at 6.00 p.m. and extended upto next day, early morning!

Arrangements were made by CHYK, Devi Group and Mission Members.

Balvihar Camp--Mathru Pooja & Valedictory Functions






  • Chinmaya Mission, Madurai, has organised a Summer Camp LEAD 2009 "Learn Eagerly; Act Dynamically" for children in the age group of 9 to 13 years.
  • The Camp was inaugurated by Smt. Uma Kannan, w/o Sri Kannan, a prominent industrialist on May 10 and ended on May 17 (8 days from 9.15 a.m to 3.00 p.m), at Chinmaya Meenakshi, Doak Nagar, Kochadai, Madurai.

  • 70 children were participated in the Camp and LEAD their time with the sessions of Daily Pooja to Lord Sri Krishna, Yoga, Value mining, Crafts, Inspiring Indian Stories and Talks, Vedic Chanting - Shanthi Suktham, Stotrams & Bhajans.
  • One day field trip to Thiruvadhavur, Siva Temple worshipped by saint Manickavasagar, and Tirumohur, a Vaisnavite Shrine, was also being organised on 14th May and the students enjoyed the outing with Br. Srinivas Chaithanyaji.
  • Mathru Pooja & Valedictory functions were held on 17th May (sun day). Selected stories from the life of Sri Adi Sankara was enacted by the Children. Prizes & Certificates were issued to the Participants. Mementos were given to the CHYK Sevaks and Devi Group members, who  made the Camp a big Success!.
  • Lunch was provided to the Children and their parents as  Prasadam, on the Mathru Pooja day. Feed back from the parents were very encouraging and touching also!

  • As Swami Chinmayanandaji has said, Do not just invest on the Child, but also invest in the Child, the entire programme was meticulously planned and organized by the Br. Srinivas Chaitanya, Acharya, Madurai Centre.
