Hanuman Chalisa Lecture by Br. Aniruth Chaithanya at Madurai

* * *
A Spiritual Discourse on "Hanuman Chalisa" by Br. Aniruth Chaithanya, is being organised from August 24 to August 29, 2010, at Sri Odai Karuppanaswami Koil, Chelliah Colony, Chokkanathapuram, at the outskirts of Madurai.

Sri Hanuman Chalisa
Hanuman Chalisa (Hindi: हनुमान चालीसा "Forty chaupais on Hanuman") is a devotional song based on Lord Hanuman as the model devotee. It is a poem written by Tulsidas in the Awadhi language, and is his best known Hindu text apart from the Ramacharitamanasa.

Hanuman (also known as Anjaneya and Maruti) is a Hindu deity and an ardent devotee of Rama, a central character in the Sanskrit epic Ramayana. Lord Hanuman is a brahmachari and millions recite the” Chalisa” to seek blessings of Shree Hanuman.

Prominence
Hanuman Chalisa has gained enormous popularity among the modern-day Hindus. Many of them recite it as a prayer every day or every week, (generally on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays).
It is believed that the person who chants the Hanuman Chalisa 100 times for 100 days will become free from the cycle of birth and death and enjoys the highest bliss, as stated in verse 38.

Each of the 40 Verses of the Hanuman Chalisa convey one particular form of blessing, depending on the Bhav or Shraddha (faith) of the devotee, the fruits of the particular verse are attained.

Talks on "Isavasya Upanishad "

Some of the ‘pearls’ that have been collected from the Upanishad Lectures delivered by Swami Sivayogananda, from August 10 to August 14, 2010, at Chinmaya Mission, Madurai.

Pearls of wisdom:

·‘Shanthi’ sloka of Ishavasya Upanishad, in a nutshell, contains entire vedantic Philosophy. It is a daring declaration of Vedas without any veil. So complete. So perfect.

· There is no flaw in ‘Jagath’. We have distorted vision to see otherwise.

· This erroneous vision can be removed only through ‘Shasthras.’

· When only a mango tree can emerge from a mango seed, what emerged from ‘Brahman’ should be only ‘Brahaman’

· So recognize ‘this’ part, as a part of ultimate‘That’

.

· This cannot be seen. Should be experienced by one, where a ‘Guru’ becomes vital.

· By illuminating all faculty, the Guru stands as a witness to that indestructible Conscious & shows the way to Meditate.

· Hence be single pointed to listen to Guru.

· Keep meditating at all times, when it will pervade the entire mind.

· Control the mind, the world will set right.

· Thus cloth the entire knowledge of worldly objects & acts

With ‘Ishwara Smaran’

· Then you can lift yourself, when protected from ignorance.

· Do not get caught up in trivial waves of sensuous pleasures.

· Protect your ‘seeking’ by renouncing, the possession of wealth, relations, etc.

· Wish to live for 100 years, perform all responsibilities with the mind set in tune with the Lord

· All karmas should have growth, development and get culminated into Realization.

Chinmaya Vanaprastha Sansthan Meeting - August 2010

‘Chinmaya Vanaprastha Sansthan’ meeting (of Senior citizens) held on August 8 (Sunday), had full attendance, and the guidance given by the sage Kapila Muni to his mother Devahuthi, (Deva + ahuti = one who can invoke the Lord), in Bagavatham was the text chosen by Swami Sivayogananda…. Very apt and adequate to the audience to contemplate!

Acharya started with the question: “What is the top most priority of “Vanaprastha Ashram?”

THE GIST OF THE SESSION:

  • Highlighted the limbs of Asthanga Yoga - Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Prathyagara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi, as explained by Kapila Muni, to his mother.
  • Control of the mind by taking the support of ‘nama’ & ‘roopa’ of any deity. Fix the mind there.
  • This in turn purifies the mind.
  • Thus, one can sit for meditation, which is the supreme responsibility, of everyone.
  • If one can achieve this, then it is said, that he/she has conquered time. This is Wisdom.
  • One who conquers this is extremely peaceful & blissful.
  • This subdued mind will be bubbling with joy.
  • That source of joy is from within.
  • It is time to realize that happiness or sorrow comes to one, who leans on external objects.
  • INTROSPECT ON: a) Who am I? b) What is my role?
  • Never mind, in playing & participating in ‘family’ but should be able to get out / withdraw.
  • Realize to take ‘volunteer retirement’ from these hectic worldly responsibilities.
  • Spend more time with holy people.
  • Be in search of Spiritual seekers.
  • Take delight in giving up sensual pleasures.
  • Purity in all actions & controlled participation in normal walk of life is essential.
  • One has to constantly take effort to achieve the above.
  • It enlarges your consciousness..............
