Romanian Yoga Group Visit to Chinmaya Mission

**

It was a pleasure to receive Mr. Florin Stanscu and his seven students from Romania, Europe, in Chinmaya Mission, as a part of Yoga Programme, which is being regularly conducted by Sri Gopalsamy, Joint Secretary, Chinmaya Mission, Madurai.

Mr. Florin Stanescu, is practicing yoga for the past 22 years and has close association with Sri Yogeswar Karthik, Chennai. The master Mr. Florin, demonstrated a few high tech Asanas, along with his students and explaining its effects on the body and spoke thus:

µ His country Romania is called after our great Rama and has many references for it.

µ It is so unfortunate to see that many Indians are not aware of their own treasures and

still many are hidden and yet to be explored !

µ India is such a sacred land where great sages like Patanjali walked and breathed this air

µ When compared to India, Europe is nothing in culture, civilization and tradition

µ Yoga makes one’s body and mind tuned to realize the Supreme

µ Yoga helps one to meditate

µ Yoga is Universal, though he is a Christian by birth, practicing Yoga for several years

and teaching to the Romanians

µ Whatever be the trouble or chaos in one’s life either personal or official, meditate. The obstacles will disappear and explained his personal experiences.

These ancient, but golden verses heard from our Acharyas and great thinkers. Experiencing India from the ‘voice of abroad’ makes one to be proud of the soil! Hence we are more indebted to our mother Bharat !

Chinmaya Mission members and Yoga students were assembled in large numbers, in that pleasant morning. Mr. Gopalsamy, welcomed the foreign yoga delegates and Mr. Thilagar, Secretary, thanked the gathering.

A PRAYER To the Universal Teacher !

µ O! Teacher, as I awake and arise each day, teach me to be humble

µ Teach me to respect another life and to accept that just as I am entitled to my opinion, others are too

µ Teach me O! Teacher to contribute selflessly and without expectation

µ Teach me to forgive every act of unkindness and injustice to me

µ Teach me to forget and unlearn what may not be relevant to me, as I journey along

µ Teach me, O! Teacher, to conquer anger and to attain that state of ahimsa, when all violence inside me subsides and true love prevails

µ Teach me to avoid hatred and jealousy

µ Teach me to resist ruinous temptations and to employ discretion at times when I may waver

µ Teach me to soak in and converse with the silence that engulfs me and for me to discover the real me in it

µ Teach me to lead a life of action, to live in this world, skillfully and selflessly and yet be above it

µ Teach me O! Teacher, to remain detached from the fruits of my actions and to know that if the MOTIVE is PURE and the MEANS are CORRECT , in the end, it will all be fine, if I do my best and leave you the rest

µ Teach me to remain ever grateful to you,O! GOD, for this life and this experience !

Prasnopanishad Class at Chinmaya Mission 2.12.200 to 7.12.2009

During the period the hall was packed with those who are interested in listening Upanishad chosen by Gurudev. Br. Srinivas Chithanyaji, brushed our memory of Mundakopanishad, before he launched on the Prasnopanisad. As a part of Atharvana Veda, while the former indicates the Truth, the latter gives the ways and means to find out that Truth. These classes, dealt in detail on the answer given by Rishi Pippalaha, to the question put forth by the sincere desciple 'Kabandhi'

Some points to ponder:

  • a true seeker should follow 'tapas', 'bramacharya' and 'shraddha'
  • 'tapas' or 'dhyanam' is the most valuable possession. The real treasure, one can cherish.
  • 'brhmacharya' - as control of all five sense organs and the pleasures they tempt
  • 'shraddha' is the earnest faith one has towards his guru and vedas
  • 'faith' has no logic and ' logic has no faith' . It is the most important pursuit.
  • 'faith' gives the direction to the soul to travel
  • the whole episode is a theory of "Relativity vs Reality"
  • Relativity is a mental dependence, that is supported by the substratum, which is independent of relativity.
  • How Prajapathy himself manifested as 'prakriti' and 'Prana' and how the time, space and direction revealed themselves.
  • Thus the whole creation is the 'grace of the Divine' permitting the jiva to realize the purpose of this birth, brakes the net of 'maya' to merge into Him.
  • the search for the Supreme reality is the Spiritual quest.
Om Shanthi !

Mahabharatha Jnana Yagna in Tamil at Tirunagar.

Mahabaratha Jnana Yagna was held from November 17 to 21, at Dharmakshetram, Tirunagar, Madurai, by Acharaya Br. Srinivas Chaithanyaji.

The Mahabaratha war is a 'dharma yudha' and the battle field is 'Dharmakshetra'..This talk was also arranged in 'Dharmakshetram' a suitably titled venue. A decisive co-incidence! The devotees of Gurudev and general public were attended the yagna, in large number eagerly, to experience the Bhisma Parvam!

Each day of the discourse ended in throwing more light on the great philosophy of this land and the Sages and the Heroes, who made" "Satyam alone Triumphs!". To list a few:
  • the greatness of Sage Vyasa to lend the unparalleled boon to Sanjayan..
  • the humility and the strength of "dharma"..
  • the pearls of wisdom of Bhagawad Gita - it is one without second !..
  • the subtle and yet powerful role of Sri Krishna.. He was taller than circumstances..
  • the different strategies framed by Pandavas and Kauravas in the battlefield..
  • how the war is lost, before it began..
  • the fall of the greatest Acharaya of archery, Bhisma, thus quenching the debt he owed..
  • Bhisma's pure love and affection to Arjuna..
  • Bhisma's devotion to the Lord Sri Krishna..

Talk at Sringeri Math, Madurai

Br. Srinivas Chaithanya, Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Madurai, gave a talk on" Kuraiyondrum Illai " ( குறையொன்றும் இல்லை ), on November 1 (sunday) at 6.30 p.m. at Sringeri Math, Madurai, sponsored by M/s Sri Krishna Sweets, Coimbatore.

"Narayaneeyam" was sung by devotees and the hall was set ready with serenity..

In his talk Br. Srinivasji, mentioned that man at every stage of his life, does actions, seeking total happiness, but it is always 'apoornatha' - a sense of incompleteness prevails! A state of being uncomfortable is always there..How to reach the total Bliss?

In almost every chapter of Bhagawat Gita Sri Krishna, gives the answer for this question! Devotion and Surrender are two important milestone on the the path of Bliss. Devotion removes worry, anxiety and fear. Surrender makes life smooth and joyful. Mahabharatha threw more light on the topic, he quotes.

The audience were thrilled, when he explained, how Sahadeva with his crystal pure love for the Lord, could tie the lotus feet of Yogeshwar - Sri Krishna!

Purity is the character of a devotee! If you are a devotee, you should be spotless..then 'kuraiyondrum Illai' ( குறையொன்றும் இல்லை ) !
