Mahabharatha Jnana Yagna in Tamil

Mahabharatha Jnana Yagna
(Vidhura Needhi - Udhyoga Parvam)
By Br. Srinivas Chaithanya
(Acharya, Chinmaya Mission Madurai)
from : 27.06.09 to 03.07.2009
Place: DharmaShetram, Tirunagar

Seven days discourse on 'Vidhura Needhi' by Br. Srinivas Chaithanyaji, was exhaustive and explicit.

Vidhura tries his best to make Dratharashtra to understand his folly. The great dharmashastras rendered by Vithura are not only for that mortal blind, but for all of us who are internally blind, not knowing the purpose of one's existence on this earth. Each sloka carries a luminous message ! To quote a few:
  • Better to remain silent than to speak.. If circumstances demands one to speak, then truth alone to be spoken. Truth should be delivered, with compassion in the heart. Thus one strengthens one's mind and actions!
  • Keeping all the senses well under his control, uthamapurusha wishes good for all.. Be delighted, in seeing such good souls.
  • One can develop or nurture such able qualities like patience, humility, silence, uprightness and truthfulness by Satsanga.
  • Be fearless ! We have to eradicate fear and not to try escape from fear... If the intellect (buddhi) is sharp, coupled with bhakthi, there will be no trace of fear.
  • In creation, man alone is given the unique opportunity to realise his mistake and to correct. So, think...analyze and then act!
  • Spiritual growth is a gradual progress. A spiritual seeker should have faith in himself and faith in the chosen path.
  • It is ignorance of the 'self' that breeds anger, jealousy, greed, etc. So destroy them before they kill you!
  • A good student should vigilant to avoid the following..
1. Laziness, 2. Pride, 3. Unpleasant desire, 4. Wavering Mind, 5. Forming gang 6. being stubborn & 7. Ego..

Since Drtharashtra's mind was not quitened, Vithura requested Sanath Sujathiar to enlighten him! The great Sage was pleased and explain in length.
  1. only with the help of Acharya, one canknow & imbibe the Supreme Knowledge..
  2. Worshiping and reveling in the thought of Guru and his teachings is the surest way to learn them and lead a saintly life..
  3. with good conduct and gratuitude, one has to surrender totally at the lotus feet of the Guru...
Thus Guru Krupa..Kala Krupa..Atma Krupa and Sastra Krupa are needed for one to have a Joyful and Cheerful life!

Spiritual Unfoldment by Br. Uddhav Chaithanya..

on June 24, a Special lecture on Spiritual Unfoldment by Br. Uddhav Chaithanyaji Acharya,
Chinmaya Mission, Dallas, USA, was held at Chinmaya Meenakshi. The Satsang started with the Prayer song rendered by Balvihar student, Viveka. Smt. Parvathy Venkatraman, lighted the Kuthuvilakku and thus the hall was illumined! Shri Thilagar, Secretary welcomed the gathering.. and Sri Venkataraman introduced the Speaker to the audience.

Swamiji, slowly and steadily took the audience to his aura, by entering into the topic from simple experience..One who got lost on his way to reach the destination, should know (1) where he is and (2) where he has to go! If the destination is clear, one may take different routes to reach, but one should be aware of one's destination!

He remembered a quotation "in matters of opinion, flow like water.. in matters of principle, stay firm like a rock!"

He guided us (a) to look into the root of the problem, instead of doing away superficial patch work and (b) not to perform any action for happiness, but to do action with happiness!

So 'within the realm of one's principle, one can change the route, but not the Goal! The goal being " to be happy with the conscious alertness of Divine Presence" People who have Pure Mind (Chitha Shuddhi), Focussed Mind (Chitha Ekagratha) and Firmly established in Jnana (Jnana Nistha) will do actions for others. A true seeker, thus, should focuss on all the above three..

To conclude, he made our Goal very clear that, "only by self effort. we can reach the destination., If there is effort on our part, Guru's Grace and Blessings will flow to us, to reach our DESTINATION..

Br. Srinivas Chaithanya, Acharaya, Chinmaya Mission, Madurai, honoured and thanked the speaker... Chinmaya Family members from various parts of the City attended the Satsang in large numbers.. Prasadms were distributed after Mangala Aarthi..

Chinmaya Uvacha.....

This is a Sacred tradition in Hindu scriptural studies. Philosophical truths are not declared with the authoritativeness of a personal authorship of any reliable and dependable Master. Now-a-days, we find that Philosophers declare their philosophical theories over their own signatures. There are many who declare their findings on the basis of their own individual experiences. This is not accepted as a valid reason in the Hindu thought. Merely to declare a truth because it was or is the experience of one individual cannot in itself be sufficient sanction to accept that philosophy. For, if the unreality of the world is the experience of persons like Gaudapada, to the ordinary man, the world is real in his experience and so, we must have more evidence to give greater authority to Master's words, than merely the excuse that it his experience.

If experience of one is acceptable, the experience of the other must also be equally acceptable. The reason is, why we prefer one over the other should be clearly understood. Thus even in the scriptures we, off and on, find the Masters advising their disciples that, " that is what I was taught by my Master who told me, that he learnt this from his Master" . Thus we accept as scriptural (Agama) only, such declarations which have reached us through a hierarchy on the teachers and the taught.

Mundakopanishad Yagna

Mundakopanishad Yagna was held from June 1 to June 7, 2009 at Chinmaya Mission.. The evening was glowing with the setting Sun. The devotees were filling the hall.. so peaceful.. so tranquil! There was a perfect harmony between the teacher and the taught.

Br. Srinivas Chaithanyaji's speech was a steady flow to trigger over the minds towards the Supreme, which is nameless, formless but resides in everyone's heart as a bright light - Kootastha Chaithanya!

Swamiji spoke about the two preconditions/qualifications to attain the Truth; Nature of Atman and gave the technique of withdrawing inside! Further Swamiji explained the splendid significance of Pranava Manthra 'OM'.... "The only medicine prescribed in Upanishad to overcome all the obstacles is the continued chanting of 'OM'..Only then, the spiritual journey becomes more fascinating and to reveal one 'self'" he suggested.
