Sat Sang with Br. Ajit Chaithanyaji at Madurai...

It was indeed a pleasant surprise for Madurai Chinamaya Mission members to hear Br. Sri Ajit Chaitanyaji, on Feb. 21 (Sunday)

After accepting our welcome, Swamiji slowly but emphatically explained the importance of the Sacred Book “Srimath Bhagavatham”.

The spirit of Sri Krishna is in every letter of this book and who reads the book with sincere aspiration is indeed blessed by the Lord. While talking about “Bhavath Mahathmiyam” Brahmachariji stressed on three important points:

"Shravanam, Mananam and Contemplating over what is heard"

Thus the evening was very purposeful. and ends with a blissful mood ....

Upanishad Class - " Prasannopanishad" Feb 17th to 20th

This 'GnanaYajna' is the first Yajna of Swami Sivayoganandha. Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Madurai. Blessed are the one who listened to him, soon after his initiation.

After clearing the doubts of Kabandhi, Kousalyah & Bhargav, Rishi Pippalahar reveals the One who illumines each one, as the answer to the question putforth by his yet an another disciple Kargyah.

The Questions:
1. While sleeping , who goes to sleep ? Who keeps awake?
2. Who is the experiencer of the 'dream state' ?
3.Who enjoys the 'deep sleep state'?
4.Who illumines all the three states?

Rishi Pippalahar's answers are so poetically painted in the Upanishad. Accompanied by the selected Adi Sankara's bashyam & quotes from Chandokya Upanishad, this part of Upanishad was exhaustively explained by Swami Sivayoganandha.

Some points to read & reflect:

  • While sleeping, the sense organs loses it's activity, but they exist.
  • 'Athman' as such has no experience in it's pure state, but when it lends its consciousness to the subtle nerves, 'thoughts' are awakened. It pervades through the mind. That is how dreams are remembered. It is a theory of Illusion., which is intellectually proved with proper logic.
  • The Trinity Agni, in one's physique, keeps awake even when one goes to sleep. Unless one is blessed by these three Agni, it is impossible to hear such 'Athma Gnana'
  • In the waking state, we discard the dream as unreal. When the dream becomes unreal, the waking state is also unreal
  • To look at the world dispassionately is in true sense, 'Sanyasa'
  • A seeker by his 'Dhyana abyasa' invokes 'Ishwara' in his heart, and look at the world as unreal.
  • Existence without the 'mind' is 'deep sleep state.' In a way it is ignorance, but it is the bliss of a being & a total ecstasy for a Gnani who experience this state consciously.
  • ' Om' is the vehicle through which the 'jeeva' merges with 'Supreme Reality' who is within.
  • He illumines all the three states, who is the Supreme Self. One should get firmly established in it.

Reception to Swami Sivayogananda.....

Reception to Swami Sivayogananda.....

13thFebruary, the next day to Maha Shiva Rathri is a star marked day for “Chinmaya Kudumbam (family)” in Madurai.

In the pleasant evening, with their minds concentrated on him, with devotion in their hearts and with a firm conviction to tread on the path to be shown, the crowd was waiting eagerly.

The Acharya Br.Srininvas Chaitanya disappeared, only to reveal himself as
Swami Sivayogananda with the blessings of Poojya Gurudev, Guruji and numerous Rishis and Yogis who were dwelling in his heart.

5:45 P.M. – The Ochre robed Sanyasi stepped out. His eyes glowed with compassion that reminded the words of Lord Krishna in Gita : “Rarest of the Rare is that high souled one who looks upon on all things as the all pervading Lord”

After welcome with Poorna Kumbam Swamiji alighted the dais flanked by the President Sri. M.S. Meenakshi Sundaram and Secretary Sri Thilagar. Sri Thilagar’s whole hearted welcome of the audience touched everyone. President’s address was testimony to his devotion to Swami Shiva Yoganandha. Dharmakshethram - Sri Krishnaswamy of Tirunagar in his address offered his humble salutations to Chinmaya Mission and wish to continue Mahabharatha Yajna as before forever. Sri Somu, President, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, shortlisted the various milestone reached in Gurudev’s Mission and with profound gratitude placed Chinmaya Mission at the top of all Hindu Spiritual Missionaries of Bharath. Since Swamiji's nomenclature had "Yogi", the Yoga students who are regularly attending classes under the guidence of Sri Gopalsamy, the joint secretary of Chinmaya Mission, paid their pranams to Swamiji . Swamiji reciprocated with his blessings to everyone.

After brief felicitation by Smt. Lakshmi Krishnamoorthy of Devi group and Smt. Mallika Sekar of Senior Citizens wing, Swami Sivayoganandha slowly and steadily briefed us on what is Sanyasa Ashram and great love of Guruji Sri Tejomayanandaji. Swami Shiva Yoganantha’s profound love to his God Father Guruji Sri Tejomayananda was visibly seen and felt. He briefed us that Chinmaya Mission has its root from Shringeri Mutt where great spiritual luminaries have left their indelible stamps on Advaita thought and literature.

At the Altar of Dhakshinamoorthy, under the constant watch of Tapovan Maharaj and Poojya Gurudev, Swami Shiva Yoganantha took a vow that he would live and serve the true spirit of Sanyasa. Loud applaud filled the hall.
Paduka Pooja of Gurudev was conducted., by Swamiji. With the chanting of Purusha Suktham and Narayana Suktham the hall was vibrating with celestial feelings. After receiving the blessings of Swamiji, everybody enjoyed the samashti bhiksha prepared by the Devi Group of Chinmaya Mission.

The crowd dispersed with a feeling that there is a true disciple of Gurudev to lift them, from mortality.

Prasnopanishad. Class

HARI OM

Chinmaya Meenakshi -the seat of Dakshinamurthy with His perfect disciples, is the right place to learn Prasnopanishad.

Here, the Guru Pippalahar answers the questions putforth by his disciples – Bhargav & Kausalyah.

The hall was packed with the audience tuned to listen to Br. Sri. Srinivas Chaitanyaji.

Pleased with the serene atmosphere, Swamiji explained ' Prana' the all pervading in cosmic & one's within.

To quote a few:

v Supreme manifestation of Brahman is 'Prana' .

v This is nothing but pure conscious- Shakthi.

v There is rhythm & order in prana.

v The comforts we enjoy today is due to the grace of 'prana'. Be grateful to it.

v Thus the glorification of 'Prana' (shakthi ) is the only means to reach 'gnana' ( sivam)

v Divinise all your activities as all we do is due to this 'Prana'

v Nadis are subtle body channels through which the prana shakthi flows.

v Intellectual knowledge merges with worldly objects while intuitive knowledge merges with wisdom.

v So disassociate with worldly objects to serve the Master within.

Thus Self Realisation is the goal of Upanishad.

v More the study of Upanishad, sharper will be the intellect.

v It is a skill to be obtained through yoga abyasa.

v Thus the enfoldment of mind is the unfoldment of the spirit.

v No external factor will cleanse you within.

v Pranayama becomes vital as senses will be under our control.

v This all pervading prana in the universe is the force that keeps earth & other planets in their respective position.

Thus the law of gravitation was well propounded by Pippalahar much earlier than Newton’s law of gravitation.

CHINMAYA VANAPRASTHA SANSTHAN CAMP.....

A one day “Spiritual Camp for Senior Citizen” was organized on January 31, (Sunday). by Chinmaya Vanaprastha Sansthan, a wing of Chinmaya Mission. Vanaprastha Camp in Chinmaya Mission was a salutary thing guarding our elders. This camp expressed affection which is our strength. Around 80 yearning hearts were the sincere participants of the camp. It is not an intellectual or mental guidance that was given, but a sheer spiritual experience to be undertaken, which makes a complete metamorphosis of one’s life.

Seeking the blessings of Mother Meenakshi and Gurudev., Br Sri. Srinivas Chaitanyaji, began the Session by his inspiring talks on spiritual life.

Highlights:

  • Grow older than your age

  • Age of the body has no real connection to the mind

  • Be younger than your mind

  • Youthfulness is the expression of mind and soul

§ Equanimity of mind will be achieved only when there is a seeking for spirituality

§ Spiritual quest will keep you happy

§ Keep fresh and keep smiling

§ Happiness is momentary, dependent on fulfilment of a desire whereas peace is absence of desires and hence independent

§ So start your life from the state of peace

§ The senses are cooperating as they lose youthful vitality. Thus old age is a blessing!

§ Then the purpose of life is only to know God.

§ Make use of the time to read, contemplate and reflect on God. Then you will remain untouched by the worldly objects.

§ Pass on the spiritual culture to your family. It is the greatest responsibility of the elders.

In the next Simple Yoga Techniques Session, Sri Gopalsamy, Joint Secretary of Chinmaya Mission who conducts regular Yoga classes in the Mission, explained and taught some easy Mudras, that are convenient and comfortable to the elders, at the same time healing their illness like blood pressure, asthma, constipation, back pain and reduce tension. His session ended with: What you are is God’s Gift to you. What you make of yourself is your Gift to God….

Living without Jealous and Greed and thus promoting a sound mind in a sound body was the key note of Rtn. Dr. E. Radhakrishnan on the topic Health is Wealth.

“How to loosen the shackle” was the talk of Ms. Mallika Sekar, during post lunch Session.

Points to Ponder:

  • Have a detached attachment.
  • Advise only when approached.
  • Care for values than valuables.
  • Sat sang and scriptural study makes you strong mentally and promotes solace.

The camp ended with a Group Discussion on “What is my take home message?” Vote of Thanks delivered by Sri Thilagar, Secretary. Feed-back from the participants were very encouraging... Of course the senior citizens, where at ease with good refreshments and sumptuous lunch.
