SPIRITUAL CAMP AT ADI SANKARA NILAYAM, VELIYANADU, KERALA

Spiritual Camp was organised at Adi Sankara Nilayam, Veliyanad, from 27th Feb. to 3rd March (5 days ). The Chinmaya family members of Kalapakkam, (Chennai) and Madurai were participated in large numbers, in the Camp.

The yajna was inaugrated by Swami Advaynanda. Acharya, CIF., and gave the interesting episode of the venue, in his presidential address... Swamini Niranjananda lighted the kuthuvilakku ..to dispel our inner darkness. Her wishes carried a mother's touch.

Swami Sivayoganandha briefed the audience on the great works carried out by Swami Advainandha, under whose able guidence, Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) is taking giant strides.

Swami Sivayogananda, Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Madurai handled the sessions. Adi Sankara out of his compassion to mankind, gave "Viveka Choodamani" and this was the text handled by Swamiji in the birth place of Sri Sankara, "Adi Sankara Nilayam",Velianad., Swamiji explained the text in simple and lucid style, for the benefit of the participants.

It was not an intellectual analysis of truth alone. It is the way one has to live..The grace of the Guru plays a vital role in releasing one from bondage.

This is the first yajna of Swami Sivayogananda after his initiation into sanyasa Ashram.

Swamini Niranjananda handled two Sessions and took a few verses of Adi Sankara's 'Maneesha panjakam' , during the Camp. Guru Padhuka Pooja and Bhiksha was also arranged by the delegates .

Few points to ponder:

* Sacred blessing is the human birth as this is the only way to realise His presence.
* Manifest masculine temperament through a) Poorna viveka b) Vairagya c)Samadha
d)Shanthi & e)Uthsaga
* All of us unknowingly, constantly seek freedom as it is Atman's essential nature. Unfortunately, we think we are free, though tied to 'samsara'. This is nothing but sheer ignorance.
*Ability to free from the clutches of the mind & the body is Mumukshthvam.
*Totally turn your sense organs from the worldly objects.
* If the senses are in your fist, the world is in your feet.
* A Guru alone can release you from the bondage
* Hence a constant contact with such a realised soul is a must..
*Once you surrender , the Guru is bound.
*If your surrender is complete, then the Guru illumines your Consciousness Thus the key is with the Guru.
*Thereafter, to listen, learn & to live accordingly is the sole responsibility of the student.
* Thus a qualifed student is one who has, a)Viveka. b)Viraktha c)Shat sampath & d) Mumkshthvam.
* So the life is not only for survival, but for emancipation.
*One who sees the imperishable in the perishable is 'Anma gnani'.
* When Ishwara is beside you, constantly looking at you, guarding you, is there a possibility of any fear ?

Glimpses of Maneesha Panjakam:

* A body is the same for a gnani & a beggar, beautifully gift packed.
* The Sun brightens the Ganges &the dirty water alike. The problem is in us as we look at everything with the mind.
* So try to quiten the mind through meditation.
* What is it that prevents you to know 'Brhaman', which is closer to your heart ?

=Learn to withdraw from thoughts.
=When we see the 'many' we see the world. When we see that 'one' in many, we see the Brahman.

The serene atmosphere of Adi Sankara Nilayam, the satwic food served by Meera amma & the Gnana Yajna transportd the devotees to a different plane.

Thus the devotees of Gurudev from Kalpakkam (Chennai) & Madurai were the privileged lot to experience all the three blessings of Sthalam (Place), Scripture and Swamiji, together from 27.03.10 to 03.03.10., A hat-trick indeed !!!

This was possible only by the grace of Bagavathpatha Sri Adi Sankara & the blessings of Gurudev Sri Chinmayananda.

The Yajna was followed by Yatras to the various abodes of Siva, like Vaikom, Kaduthuruthi, Ettamanur, and also Suryadev Temple at Adhithyapuram, Malliyur Ganapathy Temple, Kalady, Chotanikarai, Trissur & and Guruvayur.

The participants expressed their happiness and gratitude. Further they requested Swami Sivayogananda to organize such camps, frequently, in this serene atmosphere.
