Mahabaratha Gnana Yajna - Tirunagar, Madurai
MAHABHARATHA- throws light to the hidden treasures of this ‘Great Barath’- the men and the values they carried! Sure to make every honest Indian ever indebted to this sacred soil.
A great sage, a perfectionist imbibed with all the noble qualities, though compelled to stay with Duryodhana, ever reveled in Sri Krishna is none other than Bhishma.
On His advice, Bheeshma pronunced the ’Code of conduct’to Yudhishtra-the king in general, and to the human in particular.
Aacharya Swami Sivayogananda, thus by his narration, not only propounded the episode interestingly but also gave the hand-outs in Tamil for easy reference.
Listeners were gifted indeed!
A few inspiring thoughts:
- The world revolves on the wheels of Time and Actions.
- If the actions are done without expectations of the results, one can easily get liberated from the gravitation of time.
- Knowing that the body deteriorates,as the time slips off,one is not yet turned towards the Eternal.Quite surprising.
- Effort should be consistent & there is no time scale for it
- Effort coupled with enthusiasm pays rich dividends.
- The thirty-six code of conduct given by Pitamah is the right direction to lead a contented & a happy life.
- The place of ‘father’, ‘Mother’ and ‘Guru’is unparalleled in one’s life.If we are aware of their presence and our duty towards them, then Bheeshma says that it is ‘Dharma’ of life.................( given in 15 slokas)
- Again he gives sixteen ways in which sorrows can be relinquished.
- In eight slokas, he gives the power of ‘Sweet Speech’.
Thus it is not mere 36+15+15+8 statements. They are Crystal clear drops of Wisdom.
Attend the yajnas, to experience it yourself.

Kenopanishad Classes - March 2011
This lecture on Kenopanishad—from Sama Veda, at Chinmaya Mission, Madurai, from March 4 to 9, 2011, was not an intellectual analysis. It is an inquiry into ‘Self’. Tuned already for such an adventurous journey, the devotees of Gurudev assembled to listen attentively.
Acharya Swami Sivayogananda, with simple & lucid examples, pictures, ’THAT’ to the best of his abilities, in a trackless path, and left the seekers to travel in and alone.
· Who activates the mind/or by which the mind is activated?
· Prana sakthi stirs the sense organs as expressions of the mind.
· By which ‘prana’ is locked up, to stir the sense organs?
· Thus the sense organs & prana are the tools of the mind.
· The mind is insecure as it always revels on perishable objects.
· So the frequency of the mind should be increased towards ‘Reality’.
· IT transcends both the ‘known’ and ’unknown’.
· THAT that remains as the base and illumines the speech, sight, taste, touch and hearing is inactive and unaffected.
· This experience cannot be expressed.
· Thus' IT ' is the cause for all... But the effect is unaware of the cause.
- All we have to do is to sit & meditate on IT.
